Cobug Cricket Club (CCC) was founded in 1856 and participated in the Victorian Cricket Association (VCA) second grade, enjoying moderate success until it became a founding member of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA) in 1909. Throughout it's embryonic years of existence the CCC played at various sites in the Coburg area until embracing City oval as home in 1925 until present time. The CCC has over the length of extensive history, enjoyed substantial success in terms of both premierships and player notoriety. The 50's could quite easily be discribed as the golden years for the CCC winning four successive premierships, a feat only equaled by one other VSDCA club. The names of Gilmour, Weaver, Marcy and Minahan are synonymous with the success of that era and are etched in VSDCA folklore. Today the CCC certainly can be considered a substanstial community orientated organization catering to the needs of the whole community.
